This Copyright & Licensing Policy explains who owns the work created by Chrome Leaf Digital Designs and how that work may be used before and after a website project is completed.
1. Ownership During the Project
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, all website designs, layouts, graphics, source code, written content, concepts, mockups, previews, and other creative work produced by Chrome Leaf Digital Designs remain the exclusive intellectual property of Chrome Leaf Digital Designs until full payment has been received.
No ownership or license is transferred during the design process.
2. Ownership After Final Payment
Upon receipt of full payment for the completed website, ownership of the custom website created specifically for the Client transfers to the Client.
This includes the original website pages and custom content created for the project, unless otherwise stated in writing.
Chrome Leaf Digital Designs retains ownership of:
- General design methods and techniques
- Proprietary workflows
- Reusable code libraries
- Design processes
- Templates created before the project
- Business know-how and trade secrets
These remain the property of Chrome Leaf Digital Designs and may be used in future projects.
3. Website Preview Ownership
All complimentary Website Previews remain the exclusive property of Chrome Leaf Digital Designs.
Unless the website is purchased:
- The preview may not be copied.
- The preview may not be published.
- The preview may not be recreated.
- The preview may not be shared with another designer or developer for completion.
- The preview may not be used for commercial purposes.
The Website Preview is provided solely to help you evaluate whether you wish to purchase a completed website.
4. Client Content
The Client retains ownership of materials they provide, including:
- Logos
- Business names
- Trademarks
- Photographs
- Written content
- Videos
- Other original materials
By submitting these materials, the Client confirms they own them or have permission to use them.
The Client grants Chrome Leaf Digital Designs permission to use these materials solely for designing, developing, and publishing the Client's website.
5. Third-Party Assets
Some websites include materials licensed from third parties.
These may include:
- Fonts
- Icons
- Stock photographs
- Illustrations
- Plugins
- Software
- Website platforms
- Hosting services
- Embedded applications
Ownership of these materials does not transfer to either Chrome Leaf Digital Designs or the Client.
Their use remains subject to the license agreements established by their respective owners.
The Client agrees to comply with all applicable third-party license terms.
6. Portfolio Rights
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, Chrome Leaf Digital Designs may display completed projects in its portfolio, website, social media, marketing materials, presentations, and other promotional content.
This may include:
- Screenshots
- Business name
- Logo
- Public website address
- Brief project description
Confidential information will not be displayed without permission.
7. Unauthorized Use
No person or business may copy, reproduce, modify, sell, distribute, or reuse any copyrighted work belonging to Chrome Leaf Digital Designs without prior written permission.
Unauthorized use may result in legal action as permitted by applicable law.
8. Copyright Infringement
If you believe content on this website infringes your copyright, please contact Chrome Leaf Digital Designs with sufficient information to identify the material in question.
We will promptly review the matter and take appropriate action if necessary.
